The Walgreens Expressions Challenge (Expressions) is an incentive based program established to engage high school teens ages 14 to 18 in the conversation of healthy choices for their future through creative expression. Expressions is executed in the Chicago and St. Louis metropolitan markets. Over the last seven years, Expressions has reached more than 500,000 teens.
The Expressions Challenge motivates teens to voice their opinion on topics including: Sexting, Self-Esteem, Teen Pregnancy, STD prevention, Abstinence, and Sexual Responsibility Awareness. Entrants can submit their perspective in one of three categories: Creative Writing, Multimedia and Visual Arts. During the fall semester, teens are engaged in the contest through school, organization partnerships and grassroots engagement activities.
Teens and Their Communities
Judging of the entries and selecting the top six finalists in each market conclude the contest. Finalists from each metro area and their parents, teacher, principal, and program organizer are invited to a private award ceremony where students are recognized and receive their winnings. Expressions has awarded over $128,000 in cash and prizes to winners, entrants, teachers, schools, and organizations to date.
More Than a Contest
The Walgreens Expressions Challenge is an extension of the Walgreens commitment to helping people have a happy and healthy lifestyle.
