The Walgreens Expressions Challenge is an incentive based program established to engage high school teens ages 14 to 18 in the conversation of healthy choices for their future through creative expression. Expressions is executed in the Chicago and St. Louis metropolitan markets. More than $128,000 has been awarded in cash and prizes to winners, entrants, teachers, schools, and organizations. The Expressions initiative has reached over 500,000 teens with the message of healthy choices for a healthy future.
Expressions motivates teens to voice their opinion on topics including: Self-Esteem, Abstinence and Sexual Responsibility Awareness. Entrants can submit one entry per category. Categories are: Creative Writing, Visual Arts and Media Arts. Teens are engaged in the contest through school outreach, organization partnerships and grassroots engagement activities.
Teens and Their Communities
Expressions presents high school teens with a platform to use their creative talents to develop impactful messages for their peers and community members to learn about healthy choices. Every entrant has an opportunity to be in the spotlight with Expressions, whether featured in a media interview, highlighted in the “Expressions Challenge Gallery Tour” program, “Stop.Think. Wait” poster campaign or “Educator Toolkit”. Expressions aims to inspire teens through the arts and their individual talents to inspire healthy choices for their future.
